Fresh fruit and vegetables can be found in abundance in the outdoor markets on the streets of Puerto Angel. Fresh fish, prawns, beef, chicken and pork can also be purchased from several local vendors (pescaderias, carnecerias, and pollerias). However, if you require more items than what is available in town, you can take a short 10 minute drive (or cab ride) to Pochutla, where there is a Chedraui and a Bodega. These are more traditional grocery stores that we are used to in Canada and the United States. Puerto Escondido has a much larger Chedraui and Huatulco has a Chedraui and a Soriana. Both are approximately 1 hour away in opposite directions. Many taxis will take you to either location and will stay with you for the day if you arrange the outing in advance. |
